Elliott Rogers, an adept musician, began his journey with the guitar when he taught himself to play using an easy Beatles book during his youth. However, it was an album by Doc Watson, borrowed from a friend’s mother, that deeply resonated with him. Throughout the 1970s, he was influenced by a range of music from artists such as Dan Crary, Jim and Jesse, Jackson Browne, Taj Mahal, and notably, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s acclaimed bluegrass album, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”
By 17, Elliott attended the 3rd annual Colorado Rocky Mountain festival, where he witnessed performances by legends like Bill Monroe, Jim and Jesse, and the Country Gazette featuring Alan Munde. Little did he know then, that he would later collaborate with Alan Munde in a band.
Following a tenure in the U.S. Army at Ft. Hood, Elliott relocated to Austin. There, he had the privilege of recording alongside esteemed artists such as Robert Earl Keen, Lyle Lovett, and Nancy Griffith. Moreover, he graced the stage with iconic figures like John Prine, Buckwheat Zydeco, and Blaze Foley. Today, Elliott stands out as a celebrated songwriter and guitarist, garnering accolades in the Austin music scene.
